A purr and a hisssss

Well, we did it. We adopted a second cat. I'm now in nail biting land as to whether this kitty will work out with the first cat and also in our little family. I'm hopeful but we're all being tested here.

I didn't do much writingwise this weekend. Watched some episodes of "Brisco County Junior" with the DH. I loved that show when it was on Fox a few years ago. I also read the 6th Stephanie Plum. I came very close to buying book 9 as it was at the bookstore on sale but was good *sigh* and put it back. I'm also reading "Girls Just want to have fun" by Barbara Karmazin. It's good erotic sci-fi. And boy, howdy is it ever erotic LOL. Has a lot of action, too.

I did read Michelle Hasker's Midnight Rendezvous about a week ago. It was a pretty good vampire tale, with a lot of suspense.

Edits came back on "Dinah's Dark Desire" and I managed to get those back today. I was happy there weren't any serious rewrites. Commas are still not my friends *sigh*. I'm working on some Melany edits as well. Hopefully, will get those back soon.

The other day when I signed into Yahoo, there was an article on the RWA convention. I agree with some of it, but do think romance is filled with heated passion and forever should be.

Overheard

"Here (kidlet 1), you can have this chocolate milk cup."

"Why?" Kidlet one sounds suspicious.

"Because it tastes bad," says kidlet 2. (The grocery store had no Ovaltine mix so we got Nestle *ahem*)

Gotta love little sisters!

A tale of two cats

Well, not exactly yet.

The kidlets want another cat. When we adopted the first, our intention had been to adopt two, but we didn't find another one to be interested in. But yesterday, at a pet store that displays a local shelter's cat, they fell in love with the kitty behind the glass.

So those of you with multiple kitties? How do they get along? How did you introduce them?

I'm not sure what we are going to do yet. The DH and I are still talking. I'm nervous as to how the first cat will react to a new kitty, but also like the idea of a playmate for her (LOL she probably doesn't care). I also realize this definitely means no large dogs and may even mean *gulps* no dogs at all. Though I'm thinking a small one might be possible one day *blinks at the hubby*. Considering I still look for Sheba at times, I know I'm just not ready now for a dog.

I like having the first cat, she's a sweetie. The kids are saying the first one is so much fun, the second one will be double the fun. Yeah, they're good.

Ha ha! I'm finished Magical Chances. It came in at a whopping 35,018 words. Well, not really whopping but I was orginally aiming for 30 LOL so it's big. I expect it to grow a little bit as I go through and edit it. Now on to some Melany things and Nathan and Henri. Henri says, "about time."

4 AM is not playtime

but apparently my kitty doesn't know this. I call her my kitty because I think she's decided she is my cat. She follows me around, sits in my lap. She crawled in bed with me last night for the first time. Until 4 AM. When she mewed pitifully by the front door.

But her getting me up that early and my inability to fall back asleep (though I tried until 6) led to me writing at my best time of day, early in the morning. Only one more chapter to go on Magical Chances! I wrote a whole lot for me at one sitting *G* today.

Maybe I should pay the kitty to get me up for the rest of the summer like this? Somehow, I have a feeling, she will get me up whether I pay her or not. If only she made coffee for me on mornings like this.

Who is your Inner Shapeshifter?

Who is your inner Shapeshifter?

The Scottish selkie was a being who appeared to be a seal, but had the ability to shed their skin and roam the land in human form. If a human were to happen upon the discarded seal skin, he or she could hide it and force the selkie to marry him or her. However, if the selkie were to ever find the skin, he or she would immediately reassume seal form and return to the sea from whence they came, leaving their spouse and offspring on land to forever mourn their loss.As a selkie, you are a very withdrawn, secretive and somewhat sad person, and those around you find you alluring and mystifying. People who come into your life find it difficult to find the inner you. You are also curious, but you enjoy the comforts of home most of all.

Gotcha

Grocery bags are apparently ebil and must be destroyed. I don't know why. She went in this one to work from the inside.

Between the heat and the swim lessons the girls are in, I've been kind of blah this week. I've got about a quarter to go on Magical Chances though! I can't wait to finish it up, love Drake and Chloe. They've been fun to write about. Then it will be back to Henri and Nathan. Henri is impatiently tapping his booted foot right now...

I've been reading a couple of things. One is a book to come out from Loose Id. It's a vampire and I'm really liking it. I shall blog more about it when it comes out. Another is "Black Widow" by Lena Austin. All I can say about that one is wow. It's about BSDM and a dominatrix and has a lot about the lifestyle. I'm enjoying it and have learned a whole lot. D/s fascinates me. I just picked up the 5th Stephanie Plum book by Janet Evanovich. I plan to veg with that a little bit the next few weeks. Yes, nothing like reading a book with a kitty in your lap LOL.

The evil grocery bag has been vanquished

or at least for this morning it has. I'll have pictures later of the cat inside the ebil grocery bag. She keeps attacking them LOL. I don't know why.

My newsletter, The Crayon Chronicles, will post on July 21st with a great interview with Kate Hill, a vampire author who I admire. In addition, join now and get June's issue, which featured an interview with Jenna Leigh, a new to scene author with a biting sense of humor. Anyone who's a member is automatically entered in my montly contest, this month's prize, a $5 gift certificate to Loose Id. Plus, I share news and excerpts first there so it's a great place to keep up with my goings on.

*cues trumpets*

The big news I hinted at a couple of weeks ago. Here it is....

Loose Id offered a contract for Dinah's Dark Desire!!

Yes, to say I'm happy is an understatement. This was my first menage, and I'm thrilled to get it under contract.

*whispers* and it's going to be out soon if everything works out. Very soon.

Meanwhile I'm hard at work...

The view from the loveseat

There's a feather boa, a leash, and a pirate's bandanna lying beside the love seat on the floor in the living room. Somehow I don't think I want to know what my kidlet was up to with these items...

The view as I write at the kitchen table

We went and got a new pet. No way was I ready for a dog, so we ended up getting a cat.

She likes me, gets in my lap and will follow me when it strikes her. So far, she hangs out when I write.

Please support your local SPCA and do your part for unwanted animals. Yes, Sheba came from there 13 years ago, brought in with her tiny puppies. The new kitty was also adopted from the SPCA, which here is now a no kill facility.

Happy Days are here again

So Wednesday wasn't a very nice day with the *cough* Murphy coming to visit. It took out my "free" writing time where the house was quiet.

But it started pepping up by that evening. My cowritten author ego has sold a Quickie to Ellora's Cave. I got the contract back from them in the mail on Wednesday. Somehow once I hold that contract with both signatures on it, it really does feel real. Like it's official, and it can't be taken away. Probably one reason I sometimes wait to have the contract back before I officially announce things.

Then Thursday night, was feeling a tiny bit bummed, I had something in the works but hadn't heard back from powers that be. Thursday night...I did and in a big way!! I'm not sharing yet, but I'll give you a clue...see above about holding contracts in hand *grins*.

Then, last night, I received three reviews, 2 for Crimson's Rose and one for Conduit. OMG, *snoopy dances around*.

These are my first Ecataromance reviews so that was a thrill in itself. I frequent there, so always nice.

Blood Lines: Conduit received 4 1/2 stars!! This book is full of action and hot love scenes. Revenge motivates Crimson's kidnappers. Can Bastian and Copper find Crimson before she is killed by the vampires who captured her? Can a vampire and a Conduit find happiness together? For the answers to these questions, pick up this book. The reader will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. --Candy--Read the whole review

4 1/2 stars for Crimson's Rose!! Mechele Armstrong weaves a story that will capture the reader on the first page. --Candy--Read the whole review

Thank you so much Ecataromance and Candy!

And...

Crimson's Rose got five angels and a Recommended Read at Fallen Angel Reviews!! May I say I love Tammy? She "gets" my books and I love that. She said "Mechele Armstrong has done a fantastic job of bringing this story and its rich, in-depth characters to life to the point that you don’t want the book to end. Sensuality and passion radiate throughout this entire book, drawing you in and never letting go. Crimson’s Rose is definitely a book you will want to add to your keeper file." Read the whole review.

She mentioned my book and keeper in the same sentence!

The other thing that excites me is even only writing a sentence Wednesday, I wrote *blinks* over 10 thousand words this week. I wrote the first three chapters to the next Blood Lines Novel. I now need to buckle down and finish two of the partials I've started (Nathan & Henri and Magical Chances). I'm never going to be a hugely fast writer, but it feels nice to see words counts going up.
