Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen TV shows I watch now and very surprised to come up with thirteen --Mechele Armstrong

1. Deadliest Catch—newcomer to this show but I’ve watched this season. The drama, the ice, the waves. You truly don’t know what will happen next. The captains they feature are such characters. “They cuffed him and stuffed him.”

2. My Name is Earl—LOL it makes me laugh outloud, but oddly enough underneath it all, it’s a very sweet show. I can’t help but think my dad would have loved it.

3. Dexter—serial killer as a hero? Oh yeah. Quirky black humor and a riveting performance by the lead, kept me glued and have me wanting the next season now. I don’t even mind that it doesn’t quite follow the books.

4. Heroes—Save the cheerleader, save the world. Corniest, catchiest line ever. The premise is so well done and the characters make it.

5. Stargate SG1—Not for any longer *sob* but have watched this show since it debuted on Showtime. I’m a Daniel Jackson fan! A brainy geek who can be kickbutt when the time calls for it.

6. Robin Hood—on BBC America. Quirky humor and an ensemble cast bring new life to an old story.

7. Kim Possible--*sigh* Yeah I’ve watched a lot of the new season. Why She-Go doesn’t go out on her own is beyond me.

8. Dirty Jobs—another show I’m late getting into but gotta love a show that’s not afraid to get dirty. Mike Rowe has a voice that could read the phone book and keep me intrigued and he’s very good on the fly with come backs. Hmm, he does the voice over for Deadliest Catch, too.

9. Mythbusters—I don’t watch it religiously but love when they blow things up LOL.

10. Dr. Who—Can’t wait until the next season starts. I still miss “Fantastic!” though.

11. Animal Cop shows—yes, I love the ones with happy endings, though I’m not watching as religiously as I was. New York, Houston, and Phoenix usually have good ones to watch.

12. Dinosaur shows—I love CGI affects of the dinosaurs strolling around. When Dinosaurs roamed America.

13. The States—Haven’t watched them all yet but the History Channel’s run down of the 50 states is both fascinating and enlightened. I found a comedian I knew, *gasps* was from Virginia!

Two public service announcements

1. Have you seen this man? If so, go comment here, especially if you have more pictures.

2. My good friend, Jenna Leigh is celebrating a new release from Samhain, The Wolf's Heart. She is a fabulously talented writer. Hmm who had another release from Champagne books last week. *sigh* the credit card will be getting a workout this week.

No, I'm not lazy, I'm on a deadline, I tell you.

May the muses have good books to buy

Thirteen Pets I've had--Mechele Armstrong

1. Big George—a shepherd mix who was vicious to other animals and people he didn’t know. He cornered a sheriff’s deputy on top of a car once. Yet I could ride him like a horse. My mother cried when he died, which she didn’t do often.
2. Little George—a collie we adopted as a puppy. Our only purebred. He wound up becoming a three legged dog after an incident with a trap.
3. Alexandra Tyler—a cat formerly Alexander Tyler until she got fat and had kittens. We called her Tyler.
4. Goofy—I wanted to name her Midnight because she was all black when she adopted us. *sigh* my dad called her goofy because she acted silly. She could jump straight up in the air. My brother followed her one day through the woods one day thinking she was tracking a deer. Until he heard “Moooooooo.”
5. Odie—we inherited Odie from my sister. She named him that because he reminded her of Garfield’s Odie. That should tell you something about this dog's brain power. He was a few fries shy. Sweet though. He liked to greet me by taking my hand in his mouth.
6. The bunnies—Flopsy, Mopsy, and Houdini. Odie found a nest of rabbits. They weren’t actually pets but we took care of them until a wild life rehabilitator could take them in.
7. Hoover—a huge goldfish with a gaping mouth.
8. The guppies—yes, I had little guppies who gave birth and had three babies. So neat. So the boyfriend (now my hubby) gave me a couple of fan tail guppies. Yes when they had babies, they had 20!
9. Fric and Frac—gerbils. I adopted them really because I wanted a dog LOL and the hubby didn’t want one. They were fun. Except gerbils bite. And when they get big, it hurts.
10. The cherry barbs—the male turns a fiery shade of red when he’s ahhhh in the mood *G*.
11. Sheba—my first baby. Had her for 13 years, the longest of any pet. She loved belly rubs, chewing, and catching moles. Hated all other animals with a passion but absolutely loved people.
12. Arwen—Diva kitty. I’d never had an inside cat before. She’s teaching us very well. We've had her almost a year.
13. Zoey—the mutt we adopted in February. The nervous mutt. She loves the girls of the house, except Diva kitty. She’s not too sure about boys, joggers, sprinklers, loud noises, other people…

Edited to add: Zoey and Arwen are the only ones with us currently. We do have a ocuple of fish that the girls picked out, too.

Coming soon (I hope one day): turtles, a greyhound, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, a siamese cat

Day #1 of Summer vacation

We're in the honeymoon phase. They were good, let me write and didn't fight...much. We made errands, gymnastics' practice (which is in a converted wharehouse and it was in the 90's today...uggh), and swimming at the pool.

They finally got the bikes that were promised for their birthdays. So they are learning to ride again. It had been *cough* over a year since they've been on one. I have a feeling the youngest will have her training wheels off by the end of summer.

I wrote 2000 words today! And didn't really want to stop.

May the muses have bikes

Thirteen Things I want do to or am doing this summer --Mechele Armstrong

1. Go to Baltimore Aquarium. We haven't been since the little one was toddling. As much as they love animals, I know they will have a blast. And I love Inner Harbor!
2. Go to New Jersey to see Mari and take in a Broadway show. We are working on plans. I really really want to.
3. Go the library every week or biweekly. We did that last summer, and it was fun. The school has a list of summer reading. This year both will.
4. Read lots. The youngest is reading now. We have to keep that up so I'd like to take time each day and all of us read.
5. Go to the new library on opening day. Our usual library has closed and is being replaced by a huge one around the corner. When it opens in July, I am soooo there.
6. Go to the pool. We have a Y membership and spend lots of time at the Y pools. I love indoor pools because we don't have to worry about sunburn. As we are all fair skinned, well, that is a worry. But we do love going to outside pools, too. Two summers ago, we had the marathon of 6 weeks of four day a week swim lessons. LOL not doing that again.
7. Go to Busch Gardens or Kings Dominion. Two theme parks in very close proximity. Have to do one this summer
8. Have picnics. We love going to parks and a picnic is such fun.
9. Go to the Beach. Virginia Beach isn't too far away. We've talked about taking a day trip there.
10. Spend time with Grandma. Last summer we went out to see her and met her a few times at an outdoor pool. It was fun!
11. Go to the zoo. My hubby has never been, and I think he needs to. You can feed giraffes! What could be better?
12. Find fireworks for July 4th.
13. Survive my youngest's tonsillectomy. Her tonsils come out in August. I'm not looking forward to it.

Thirteen Things I should be doing right now by Mechele Armstrong

1. Writing. I now have a deadline of *eeeeps* June 30th.
2. Finishing my order at Vista Print. I need more promo stuff! (Pester me to order it. Request some *Grins* at mechele@mechelearmstrong.com.)
3. Putting the house back together. We had some work done. Still have nail holes to fill, window sills to paint, curtains to rehang, things to move back to their rightful place.
4. Scooping the kitty's litter box. Enough said.
5. Writing. Did I mention that deadline?
6. Working on the fish tank. The air pump has gotten out of kilter and its LOUD. The dog keeps looking at me like, "Uh, can't you do something about this?"
7. Taking some plants outside. It's June and the jungle is still inside my house.
8. Sweeping. It's hot. The dog is black. There are little black tumbleweeds all over the kitchen.
9. Playing with the kitty. She has a bit of a weight problem. Have you ever tried to make a cat play? Or do just about anything? *rubs scratched up arm*
10. Playing Viva Pinata. *blinks* LOL I'm so addicted. And my time has been short with it lately.
11. Writing. Did I mention the deadline and the kids get out of school next week?
12. Going to the post office. I have promotional packs to send out for Melany.
13. Priting off CD labels. I have a booksiging June 30th. I thought I was only going to be signing Melany Logen books, but I found out I can bring Mechele books as well! I'm so excited. The Caveman anthology, Secrets of Seduction II will be out June 21st! In both print and ebook.

I've been tagged--Eight things

Desiree Erotique tagged me!!

Here are the rules:

1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

8 random facts/habits about me:

1. My brother and sister were 11 months apart with the oldest sister being four years older than the other sister. Mom waited 13 years after that to have me LOL. She had one graduating high school and one going into kindergarten.

2. I turned six the year I started school.

3. I first met my husband in high school when I was a freshman and he was a senior. But we didn't start dating until I was a junior.

4. I was salutatorian of my high school class. One of my best friends at the time, was valedictorian.

5. I do not tan. I turn varying degrees of red.

6. I write the plot down and go back to layer in descriptions. Each section gets about three passes before I'm done with it.

7. I once very much wanted to be a veternarian.

8. I love watching reality TV--on the Discovery channel. Deadliest Catch, MythBusters, and Dirty Jobs are my reality shows.

As for tagging people, I think most people I know have already done this meme. If you want to do it, feel free to either blog or write them in comments.

May the muses have memes
