That's the way uh uh huh I like it
After reading through it yesterday, I'm feeling pretty good about the story. Need to pass it along the critique partners *bites nails*.
Have I mentioned Loose Id contracted the Sixth Cursed Halloween? *G* It finishes out the Deidre trilogy. I rather enjoyed writing her. She's so cranky.
I've also been critiquing for both Corinne Davies and Marissa Alwin. Lots of great material.
May the muses have writing time

You Gotta Have friends
My very good friend, Corinne Davies, who knows I’m nervous about the new story, sent me a note to cheer me on today with pom poms and everything. I soooooooo needed it. It made me smile and yes, it will spur me on to continue, despite my anxiety. I'm pinning it by my desk. For inspiration.
Long live 70 Days of Sweat! It's a coming...
May the muses have good friends

Topics and chat
Tonight is the chat at M-Spot at 9 PM EST. I will be there with Mari of Marissa Alwin, talking about the release of Ingram's Charm as Melany Logen, the release of Candy Cravings which included a story by Marissa, and both Melany's and my impending March releases.
Oh, did you hear there's another round of 70 days of Sweat? I'm soooooooo up for it. It starts March 1st! And I plan to rock, baby. My goal is at least 1000 words per day, except the week I'm at RT.
May the muses have challenges

Happenings
Over the last two weeks, I've had two sick kids (both had a horrid cold and one ended up with a double ear infection), a sick hubby (the horrid cold), sick me (the horrid cold where I feel like my head is encased in two inches of shrink wrap most of the time), double edits (for Melany on Bold Bride & Mechele on the Sixth Curse of Spring), planning for a bridal shower (the hubby's brother is getting married), invitations for the bridal shower, various interviews for various blog and websites, finishing up Settler's Mine 3: The Woman, RT plotting (costumes *sigh*), doing Valentine's with the kids for their class, a project on Harriet Tubman (which involved a 3-5 minute speech and a timeline), an outing with friends, a trip to my sister's to see both sisters, and finishing reading my Rita entries. Few other things are going on, too.
If you haven't already joined my newsletter, The Crayon Chronicles, *G* do so. I have a lot of news to announce, and I will do it there first.
Tammie from Night Owl Romance interviewed me! I had a lot of fun answering her questions. Check it out here.

Thursday Thirteen
2. I can make up my own rules *G*. I write the world my characters play in. I love the control. 3. Good friends are only a thought away. 4. I don’t have to leave my house to do my job. 5. I don’t have to get it right the first time. I get a few passes to fix what’s broken. 6. I get to use words as my building blocks. I love them. Like to find new ones to use. 7. It’s a different job every day. Every character has their own nuances. Each story has its own vision. 8. Going along with 7, I never get bored. There’s always something else to create. 9. I love to tweak. I love to see my story come full circle to its full potential. 10. In writing romance, I get to write happily ever afters. It’s incredibly fulfilling. 11. The research rocks. I love going to new places, learning different things. I’m taking a class on Ireland right now. Thinking of taking a class on serial killers soon. You never know when something might pop up for a story. 12. Other authors are wonderful. Yes, I know all of them aren’t, but I’ve met soooo many wonderful people along the way. Melissa Lopez, Mari of Marissa Alwin, Flesa Black, Raine Weaver, Lyn Cash, Lauren Dane, Shara Lanel, Donna Dalton, Shelly Munro, JC Wilder, Sarah McCarthy, Angela Knight, Robin Schone, Sherrilyn Kenyon. And so many others. I’m sometimes in awe when I go to the bookstore and can point to a book and say “I know them online!” 13. It’s a wonderful creative outlet for a mind that’s busy. Instead of creating nightmares in my closet, I take up time making new words and new characters. |

So, do you like the word so?
Settler's Mine: The woman is up to 63700 words. Even with eliminating many uses of the word "So." LOL I picked one character to start her sentences off that way.
May the muses have Find in Word

Tweaking
I tend to layer as I go along. First, I write out most of the plot, laying in some things. I end up making a second pass for emotion and dialogue. I also check character's voice, for typos, and grammar on that second pass.
I'm doing the second pass on Settler's Mine 3: The Woman. I really really like the story. It's grown over 3 K and I expect a little more growing room.
I'll have some very good news to announce really soon *G*.
May the muses have editing.
